The DART-Europe portal is a full-text PhD dissertation database that provides free and open access to doctoral theses from European higher education institutions. As of 2021, the database includes over 1 million dissertations, and the number continues to grow steadily.

DART-Europe collects research outputs and doctoral theses from the institutional repositories of European universities. While the platform itself provides detailed metadata for each dissertation, the full-text documents are hosted by the respective university repositories and are accessible via direct links.

Users can browse the collection by university, doctoral school, or subject area, and both simple and advanced full-text searches are available. All dissertations indexed in the DART database are peer-reviewed, officially defended academic works, making them reliable sources that can be confidently cited in research papers, theses, and student projects.
